I started teaching long-arm quilting techniques in 2007. For 19 years I travelled to the top quilting shows in the US and internationally - including Canada, Germany, Switzerland and England. Besides getting to hang with my quilting besties, I would run live classes at quilt shows, including (among others):
My favorite thing is teaching - I love it when they get the ‘a-ha’ moment!
In 2008, I became a founding partner in Intelligent Quilting LLC, an online retail site for digital and paper patterns. I sold my interest in the business in 2011 to focus on other aspects of my career. The company has grown to over 40 designers with 1000’s of pattern choices and is currently owned by Professional Longarmer Crystal Smythe.
In 2012, the Quilter’s Groove™ Rulers were created. In the last 10 years I’ve created 8 different lines
of rulers - with around 50+ rulers in the collection.
In 2016 I published my book - “Divide and Design”
In the book I help quilters spend less time staring at their project and more time putting their craft into practice. Includes quilt patterns with lots of open space to help quilters practice this technique
Once the pandemic hit in 2020, I moved things online. I took my most popular course “Divide and Design” and created a 10 week signature program called the Quilter’s Groove Design Academy.
In 2021, I created a monthly membership for people who had finished my signature course. So I created a community so they could keep learning from me every month. It’s also become a safe space for people who aren’t quite ready for the Academy to increase their skills and confidence
Over the years I’ve won over 100 ribbons for my quilting. Here are some of the highlights:
2006 - I won my first award for Playing Hookie.
2010 - I claimed my first two “Best Of Shows” with Hula Hibiscus at the AQS Show in Des Moines, Iowa and the PA Nat’l Quilt Extravaganza in Oaks, Pennsylvania.
2012 - Swan's Song won first place at the Houston International Quilt Festival.
I live in beautiful Chester County, Pa with my 15 year old son, Brody and occasionally the older 2 boys, Brandon and Noah, make it back for a visit!
Aside from quilting, I’m an avid golfer (if I could make my money golfing, I would!) But I’m a much better quilter than I’m a golfer 🙂 (this is me after winning the 2021 Women's Shootout)
I love to cook! Since the pandemic I’ve gotten much better at it. I love to make chicken piccata. I make my own pasta from scratch (started in the pandemic)
I love to travel. I’m super excited because I’ll be going to Italy in September on vacation to watch the Ryder Cup Golf Tournament.
When my 3 boys are off being busy, I’m kept company by my two cats - Smudge and Freckles.
